About Us

About Grounded with Nature

Grounded with Nature is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal sanctuary and equine-facilitated learning center located on 82 peaceful acres in Maryland.

We are committed to creating a safe and inclusive space where people and animals can heal and grow together. Through the gentle presence of our sanctuary animals and the natural beauty of the land, we offer opportunities for connection, reflection, and restoration.

Here, growth is not rushed or forced. It unfolds through quiet moments—standing beside a horse, walking wooded trails, or simply being present in a space designed with care.

Our Approach

Our work centers on animal-assisted learning, equine-facilitated experiences, and nature-based connection. Whether you are attending a workshop, participating in an equine-facilitated session, or spending unstructured time on the land, you’ll find space to reconnect with nature, with others, and with yourself.

Animals are never used as tools. They are respected as partners, teachers, and individuals, each with their own boundaries and rhythms.

What We Believe

We believe that:

  • Animals are natural healers and teachers
  • Nature holds the power to ground, calm, and renew
  • Everyone deserves a place where they feel safe, seen, and supported

We proudly serve individuals of all backgrounds and identities, including members of the LGBTQ+ community. Inclusivity, consent, and respect are foundational to everything we do.

What We Do

Grounded with Nature weaves together several interconnected offerings:

Animal Sanctuary
Our animals—rescued, rehomed, and rehabilitated—live out their lives safely here with love, respect, and thoughtful care. Their well-being always comes first.

Animal & Equine-Facilitated Workshops
From mindfulness and creative exploration to grounding experiences and gentle self-reflection, our workshops invite people to slow down and reconnect.

Energy Sessions with the Herd
Our horses serve as intuitive, gentle partners in meditation, energy work, and emotional grounding, offering nonverbal connection and presence.

Retreat Space & Farm Stays
Guests are invited to rest and reconnect through overnight stays—whether in our cozy cabin, a glamping tent, or while exploring wooded trails and our private pond.

Each offering supports the others, creating a living ecosystem rooted in care, connection, and sustainability.

Founder & Team

Grounded with Nature was founded by Krystin, whose background in equine dentistry and lifelong work with animals shaped the sanctuary’s welfare-first approach.

The sanctuary is supported by a small, dedicated team and an extended community of family members, partners, volunteers, and trusted professionals. Together, they care for the animals, steward the land, and support daily operations with intention and respect.

Many of the animals also insist on supervising.

Looking Ahead

As the sanctuary grows, so does our responsibility. We are actively working to improve our fencing, build a barn to support horses, foster animals, and pigs, and create infrastructure that allows us to care for animals now and into the future.

Growth here is thoughtful, not rushed. Every decision is guided by animal welfare first.

You’re Welcome Here

Grounded with Nature exists because of community, people who believe in safe spaces, mutual respect, and the grounding power of nature. Whether you are here to learn, participate, support, or follow along, you are welcome.
